My dad did hard time....really hard time

Body and Mind

My
father
soon became
a prisoner,
methodically trapped in his frame.

What I once thought was a harmless disease,
tore away his
faculties,
by and
by.

Moist,
blue eyes
could not hide
his chagrin of
having the will with no means to abide.

His mental prowess stood true through the test,
until his body
forced out
a soft
yelp.

  1. Stu, I'm sorry for your pain. I realize my words are rather inadequate, but yours are not. Well said - and I hope you and your father have some peace.

  4. You have captured this aging business with your words written and I am left wondering 'why is it we have to grow old?'
